Overview

Travel along the Sky Island Scenic Byway from the City of Tucson (2,500 feet) to the community of Summerhaven at the top of Mount Lemmon (9,100 feet). This is the ecological equivalent of walking from Mexico to Canada in less than 10 miles. Learn about the environment and history by listening to the University of Arizona's Audio Tour on the drive, then enjoy a two-part discussion about the current challenges and present plans for the area. This session focuses on natural resource planning and managing sensitive ecological environments in the face of tourism and human-environmental pressures. Enjoy lunch at the Cookie Cabin and an optional summit hike after the discussion. 1.5 CM credits are available.
