John Wesley received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Oregon in 1980 and a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Oregon in 1985. John worked one year in Oklahoma City as an Assistant Planner before returning to his home town of Stillwater, OK. John spent a little over 20 years working for the City of Stillwater moving from Assistant Planner to City Planner, to Community Development Director. During his tenure in Stillwater, John was responsible for two comprehensive plan updates, a downtown area plan, and several zoning code updates. John became the Planning Director for the City of Mesa, AZ December 1, 2003. John retired from the City of Mesa in January, 2019. The City of Mesa Planning Division is responsible for the development and implementation of the City’s General Plan and neighborhood plans and processing of entitlement requests for development including rezonings, site plans, design review, platting, and variances. In addition, the Planning Division is also responsible for the City of Mesa Historic Preservation program. John was hired as the Development Services Director in the Town of Fountain Hills, AZ in July 2019. Read Less
