A COMMUNITY-DRIVEN VISION FOR TEMPE TOMORROW: GENERAL PLAN 2050

Take-Away: Tempe’s public and stakeholders increasingly want the City’s General Plan to promote sustainability, resilience, and quality of life objectives.

Description: Tempe Tomorrow - General Plan 2050 was developed with extensive input from the public and stakeholders, and by incorporating the emerging principles of sustainability, resilience, and equity into the plan. The two-year long collaborative planning process included dozens of meetings, surveys, and focus group sessions carried via face-to-face and virtual events, social media platforms, email, and direct mail bilingual communication with more than 2,500 individuals. The public and the City’s boards, commissions and the Council provided rich feedback on the draft plan. Key authors of the plan will speak about the planning process, plan contents, and lessons learned.
