Deirdre Pfeiffer's scholarship, teaching, and community engagement focus on housing strategies to advance social equity, the relationship between housing and health, and the socioeconomic impacts of housing market disruptions. She is Principal Investigator of the Arizona Research Center for Housing Equity and Sustainability (ARCHES), a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Hispanic Serving Institution Center of Excellence that is advancing knowledge and evidence-based solutions related to problems of housing security, climate, and health in the arid Southwest. She recently co-created an award-winning course on Zoning for Equity, which is collaboratively taught at seven institutions nationwide. She also is Senior Associate Editor at Journal of Urban Affairs, President of the Board of Directors for the Southwest Fair Housing Council, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Ehlenz earned her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, she worked as a planning consultant in Southeastern Wisconsin and as a senior planner for the City of Milwaukee’s Department of City Development. She is a certified planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).

Arlie Adkins is an associate professor and chair of the urban planning program at the University of Arizona. His research focuses on understanding relationships between transportation, housing, public health, and social equity. He has a Ph.D. from Portland State University and a master’s degree in city planning from UC Berkeley. His research is published in the Journal of the American Planning Association, the Journal of Urban Design, the Journal of Public Transportation, Transportation and Health, the Journal of Urban Health, Health and Place, and Housing Policy Debate. His research has been funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Institute for Transportation and Communities. Before his academic career he worked for TriMet, the transit agency in Portland, Oregon, and at Flexcar, a pioneer of car sharing in North America.
