Workshop Agenda

  1. Welcome and introduction of panelists (5 minutes) (Roger Eastman, AICP)
  2. The implications of the new ¾ vote rule with particular emphasis on the difference between how this is applied between counties and cities.
    • Susan E Demmitt and Cameron Artigue from the law firm of Gammage & Burnham
  3. Discussion on the implications of HB2365 and why cities should have appropriate regulations in place by February 9, 2018.
    • Jenae Naumann, Assistant City Attorney, City of Tempe; Andrew Miller, Town Attorney, Town of Paradise Valley; Craig Messer, AICP, Planner III, City of Phoenix; and Briiana Velez, PE, Utilities/Street Light Manager, City of Phoenix
  4. Presentation/discussion on recent local experiences with the regulation of sober living homes and group homes
    • Jon Paladini, City Attorney, City of Prescott and Andrew Miller, Town Attorney, Town of Paradise Valley.

This workshop will also be made available via webinar for those who are unable to travel.

The workshop will be followed by our first annual Holiday Happy Hour event where we will gather to catch up with good friends, meet new ones, and celebrate the end of another great year. We encourage you to bring your significant other to this holiday reception. This Happy Hour Event will take place from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Spoke & Wheel Tavern.
